Cleveland Clinic Visit

A few weeks ago, I visited the Cleveland Clinic to see a gastroparesis specialist and surgeon in their Digestive Disease & Surgery Institute. It was a long day of four flights, two doctor consults, and an electrogastrogram (EEG).

Cleveland Clinic is renowned for its gastroparesis clinic and I had been trying to get in to see them for about a year. My hospital stay in April delayed this appointment yet again, but I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to meet with their team.

The gastroparesis specialist (Dr. Cline) was able to give me a more comprehensive understanding of my SmartPill test and EEG results which guided the surgeon I met with to decide that I am a candidate for the G-POP surgery. Since the noninvasive treatments for my gastroparesis have not worked, the next step is this surgery. We are still working to nail down a surgery date, but hopefully, I can get on the books soon.

I am cautiously optimistic this could help me tolerate eating and drinking by mouth which would drastically improve my quality of life!
