College of Charleston

This week was my first week of college!

I honestly still find it hard to believe that I am now a full-time college student.

It isn’t what I thought college would look like. It’s bittersweet. On one hand, I am sad that I won’t be getting the “normal” college experience. Currently, I am living at home, unable to drive, using a mobility aid, and unable to eat. All this is a bit limiting for me in social settings and is not what I had envisioned for myself as a college freshman.

But, at the same time I am so grateful and happy to be attending college in any fashion, let alone taking half my classes in person! It’s paradoxical, but so is life, right?!! Two contrasting emotions can coexist. I can want more AND be grateful.

Right now, I choose to be excited and focus on how far I’ve come rather than clinging to old expectations.

My world is now expanding, not contracting!
