It’s with great excitement that I share with you that the $1.2M Operation Upright goal has been met and we will be able to bring an Upright MRI machine to Charleston!!!
Thousands of YOU made this day possible. I am grateful for the support you showed me both emotionally, spiritually, and financially. From day one you took the time to listen and learn about how we might make this dream a reality and then you took action. YOU are change-makers and I, just one of the millions of EDS patients in the world, am so grateful for you.
Bringing this to Charleston will give physicians a tool to make an accurate diagnosis of craniocervical instability and other complex spinal issues. Without an accurate diagnosis, patients are not able to get proper treatment. And, in the past, incredibly sick patients have had to travel long distances to get this scan.
As a reminder, 100% of the donations to Operation Upright went directly to MUSC. In the coming months, MUSC will use the $1.2M raised to purchase and install the machine. It is a long process to bring something this big to life, and I can’t wait to show you when it arrives!
While the fundraising portion has concluded, Operation Upright moves forward! This blog has been a great outlet for me to communicate with so many, post health updates, and raise awareness for chronic illness and disability. I am looking forward to continuing to post on it.
